JAFA Poetry Slam

JAFA Poetry Slam was a community that ran performance poetry events in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. We finished up our 9 years of community service at the end of 2024.

It was founded in 2015 by Carrie Rudzinski and Ken Arkind. A dedicated group of poets and volunteers  hosted, curated and produced the events. We were committed to creating a safe, nurturing space for writers and poets to grow. 

We used to host 6 to 8 events a year in Central Auckland, including the Auckland Regional Finals which sent Auckland's representatives to the New Zealand National Poetry Slam Finals.
