JAFA Poetry Slam was founded in 2015 by Carrie Rudzinski and Ken Arkind. It is currently hosted, curated and produced by a dedicated group of poets and volunteers who are committed to creating a safe, nurturing space for writers and poets to grow.
We host 6 to 8 events a year in Central Auckland, including the Auckland Regional Finals which sends Auckland's representatives to the New Zealand National Poetry Slam Finals.
Our shows are interactive: judges are chosen from the audience and the audience sways the judges. If you're a writer who doesn't feel ready to compete, you can read on our open mic.
Come join our community - we'd love to have you.
